Jane Mullett is an expert on circuses, that is, on the arts and politics, and is an excellent writer. She has just finished her dissertation on global circuses and Australia's contribution to the evolution of alternative circus.
Within Nautilus, she is editor of the biweekly Austral Peace and Security Network (APSNet) report as well as other local and research support.

Work History
- As cultural programmer for the Cultural Development Unit, Melbourne City Council, Jane set up the Indigenous arts granting program and Indigenous Advisory Panel. She managed the program from establishment to hand-over to an Indigenous arts worker.
- As Director, Circus Tarrangos, she established an Indigenous children's circus.

Jane was instrumental in development of the National
Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) at Swinburne University
of Technology. This involved:
- Presentation of original concept to establish national circus school to SUT.
- Project management.
- Concept development.
- Costing.
- Curriculum writing.
- Political lobbying.
- Fund-raising.
- From 1994 - 1996, she was head of Showbiz, which provided fee-for-service classes. This involved program management, administration, publicity and marketing and staff management.
- From 1987-1993 Jane was head of training for The Flying Fruit Fly Circus. During this time, she established a full-time training program. She was also responsible for staff management, rigging, tent maintenance, tent boss, and safety officer during the tours of Australia, England and Canada.
- From 1979-86, she was a member of Circus Oz and other circuses. This involved aerial and ground group devised circus performance, music, devising, production and rigging in Australia, New Guinea, England and Europe.
- Tall Stories performance group tour of Western Australia (1984 - 1985).
- Member of The Women's Theatre Group (1975-78). Acting, devising, administration and production.
